Pascagoula, Miss., August 8, 2017 – The Pascagoula Redevelopment Authority, in partnership with the City of Pascagoula, will host the 6th Annual Anchor Square Block Party
on Saturday, August 26th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Attendees will enjoy children’s activities, face painting, prizes, food vendors and live music.
“We welcome everyone to Anchor Square for the festivities and to see all that we have to offer,” said Director of Community and Economic Development, Jen Dearman. “Anchor Square is definitely a big part of what makes Pascagoula a great place to live, work, and play!”
Established in 2011, Anchor Square is a business incubator with fifteen Mississippi cottages offering a mix of specialty boutiques, spa/salon services, antiques and even an art gallery and studio! The cottages are arranged around a boardwalk and town green.
Besides being a great destination for shopping, dining and more, Anchor Square offers entrepreneurs an opportunity to test the waters of business. The City of Pascagoula employs an onsite Economic Development Specialist at Anchor Square, who provides tenants with access to business counseling and other resources. Tenants also have the benefit of reduced overhead costs that helps them reach the break-even point faster and invest sooner back into their businesses. This effort has proven to be a success story, as twelve businesses have transitioned to permanent locations in downtown Pascagoula since fall of 2013. The complex has received several awards, including the Best New Development Project award from the Mississippi Main Street Association, the Community and Economic Development Award from the Mississippi Economic Development Council, and the Community and Economic Development Award from the Southern Economic Development Council. There are currently seven vacant cottages available for rent for office space, retail and restaurant.
